E911 Disclosure

E911 Disclosure Statement

Last Updated: 11-25-25

1. Overview

ClearPoint VoIP (“we,” “us,” “our”) provides Enhanced 911 (“E911”) services as part of our VoIP offerings. Because VoIP functions differently than traditional phone lines, there are important limitations and responsibilities you must understand.

2. E911 Service Limitations

2.1 Internet or Power Outages

E911 will not function during:

  • Internet disruptions

  • Local network outages

  • Power failures

  • Device or modem/router downtime

2.2 Location Accuracy

Emergency services rely on the physical service address you provide. If you relocate your device and do not update your address, emergency responders may be sent to the wrong location.

2.3 Network or Carrier Issues

Any delay, congestion, or failure in VoIP routing — including third-party carriers — may affect delivery of E911 calls.

2.4 Mobile Apps & Softphones

VoIP apps used on mobile or remote devices may not automatically supply location information unless you manually update it before use.

3. Customer Responsibilities

By using ClearPoint VoIP services, you agree to:

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and updated service addresses for all devices.

  • Notify ClearPoint VoIP immediately when a phone or adapter is moved.

  • Inform all users, employees, and visitors of E911 limitations.

  • Use a backup method (such as a mobile phone) to call 911 during outages.

4. E911 Warning Labels

ClearPoint VoIP may provide E911 warning labels. You agree to place these labels on or near the VoIP devices to alert users of service limitations.

5. Acknowledgment of Limitations

By activating or using ClearPoint VoIP services, you acknowledge that:

  • You understand the limitations of VoIP-based E911.

  • You are responsible for providing accurate and updated address information.

  • ClearPoint VoIP is not liable for failures caused by internet issues, power outages, device relocation, or carrier network problems.

6. Limitation of Liability

ClearPoint VoIP is not responsible for damages, delays, misrouted calls, or failure of emergency services due to:

  • Incorrect or outdated location information

  • Loss of power, internet, or internal network connectivity

  • System failures outside our control

  • Customer failure to follow this E911 disclosure
